Sermon - Week 1
Summary: Don't fear your trials because God is in control!!
Key Scripture (1 Peter 1:1-2): To those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure.
Now it was the Sabbath on that day.
During the dry seasons of our life, God is allowing our roots to grow deeper to sustain us during these times.
1) Don't forget your destination (v.1a)
Colossians 3:3-4
Matthew 6:31-33
Seek first His kingdom! Our primary citizenship (destination) is heaven.
God wants us to be like aliens. Fix our minds on radically different things. God has called us to a living hope. We forfeit God's provision because we want to do things our way. Don't forget your destination and get off on wrong stop.
Peridipomis- "alien"
Be careful who you listen to. Our faith is a matter of life and death.
When we are absorbed into this world and turn from God, we have no right to the inheritance. We must be careful who we listen to.
Living as aliens in this world is our roadmap to living this life.
2) Don't forget whose you are (v.1b)
Psalms 46:1-2,7
Being aliens-foreigners in this world gives us security in the midst of the storm.
God's grace equips us to get through our circumstances.
Chosen are part of "who-so-ever" crowd. What matters is that God chose you. We were chosen by God.
3) Don't forget what it cost (v.2)
2 Cor 5:21
Exodus 3:8
Sprinkling- purification, allows us entry into a covenant relationship with God.

- What have you believed about who you are?
- How has God's word challenged your opinion?
- What are some tangible ways that you can press into surrendering to God's will this week?
